Henny & Reefer - ChillinIT

One of the biggest drops of the week has to be be 'Henny & Reefer' by ChillinIT. Coming in with a slight change to his usual sound over what can be described as a mix of Australian and UK drill. However his unmistakeable concepts, schemes and bars remain, as does his love for women in ballys! Dropping this track the same week he started his tour, he gets the listener hyped as much as he does, sticking to his tried and tested concepts of drugs, women, money as well as dropping a few artists names (Digga D, French Montana, Nate Dogg and Kendrick Lamar to name a few) this track, and its high class visuals and editing is a winner in my eyes and to his many fans.

Pete & Bas - Plugged In W/Fumez The Engineer

Its been a busy few weeks for the guys from England, at their age they should be taking it easy but Pete & Bas are gaining momentum and worldwide acknowledgement. Coming in hot over a Fugees - Ready or Not sample they waste no time in getting into story telling mode of girls, beer, drug drops and meeting married women for a bonk which has gained just short of 3million views at the time of writing! As much as you could look at these guys as being a novelty or a comedic duo, they are red hot. Pete has a slow gruff kind of flow with his story telling. However, Bas for me has one of the best speeds and flows in drill music right now. Towards the the end of the track the pair go back to back before finishing by calling out a few well known UK artists most notably Fredo, Bugzy Malone, Aitch, Stormzy, Jaykay and Skepta, so basically everyone. Hopefully this duo will be around for a few years to come, they have also just announced a mixtape being released on 23rd April 2021.

Winner - Kerser

Kerser made his come back and is definitely onto a winner with this track, from the visuals by renowned director Moonboy Entertainment. Starting straight on the hook talking about self medication and how everyone gets bitter when your doing well for yourself, Kerser soon brings the listener in with his humour talking about slapping the Prime Minister. However if you listen deeper you can see that he ends up talking about his self worth and his value, not just to himself but the Australian music industry. He reminds us what he has done for it with a line about resurrecting it so he should get a cut from what everyone is paid, to the fact he came from nothing to a point where the offer of $1,00,000 isn't enough for him. Many of his fans, myself included will be hoping this isn't the last time we will hear from Kerser this year.

If you haven't seen the video do yourself a favour and watch it, the sci-fi esc visual is something different and the first of 2 Moonboy videos in the list this week.

DJ Discretion - Look At Me Now ft. Lisi & Shely210

The second of this weeks videos by Moonboy Entertainment takes us to an old fashioned Mexican standoff between wanted wanted man Lisi, Mexican wrestling referee Shely210 and DJ Discretion. Lisi kicks us off with his quick wip joke bars including a close to the bone one about Chris Brown and Rhianna, with a smooth tempo and bouncy beat this is perfect for Lisi's style which is a nonstop barrage of punchlines. Shely210 comes straight in where Lisi leaves off with how people didn't have any belief in him in the past but how he's now left them all behind and surpassing everyone's expectations, he's now got the game in a sleeper like UFC fighter John Jones. One of his stand out bars is how he and his competition aren't even close like him and his Ex's. The video finishes with a nice little twist that I won't ruin for you if you've not yet seen it. It's a good collaboration with a good beat by DJ Discretion with 2 great lyricists doing it justice.

KHALIGRAPH JONES - BEATBOX FREESTYLE

I'll start this off by saying, if you know me, you know I like me some bars. Well This is full of them. I recently stumbled onto Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones and no joke, it's one of the greatest things I have done. Take this freestyle for example, this is straight up bar after bar, no filler lines everything is perfect, from the backing track to his flow. Lines on this such as "how are you even a challenge all you do is flip the switch" (a play on the TikTok flip the switch challenge) is so simple but yet so effective after it's followed a line about his competition just in the house doing TikToks. There's far to many bars to write down but honestly i could pick any line from it, there's also a little nod to some famous people who are no longer with us, including DMX, Robin Williams and Michael Jackson. Towards the middle of the track the flow changes and KJ goes nuts, with some funny punchlines and great cadence all I can say is go watch it!!

MLBRN ft. Phi11a - Drink - Prod Paradigm

MLBRN with a complete different sound on this, talking about his past, his upbringing and the things he did to try help. Not only is the track different MLBRN has completely experimented with his sound, slower and more mellow this shows MLBRN's versatility. Phi11a however breaks down the mellowness that MLBRN brought to us, starting off pounding some dudes chick in the bathroom stall, Phi11a comes out with more anger and directness questioning other mens inferiority when he's around. This switch up changes the track from a serious heartfelt to more light hearted and fun.

Ill P - No More Pain (feat. JBtheYEAR, DZR & GreXory)

Taken from his debut LP 'The Start. this track by Sydney rapper Ill P is full of schemes and bars by all the artists involved. One of my favourite schemes in this one is by Ill P himself about going through personal life events "The pain and the suffering I've been through enough pushed through the smooth and came out rough, got myself out like I hit my own stumps gone for a duck". I've been following Ill Ps career for a while now and I can honestly say he's one of the best lyricists out there, throw backs to old school hip hop he has a great flow and schemes. Not to take anything away from the remaining artists on the track JBtheYear slows the track down abit with his slower flow and Hooligan Hefs vibes, which he comes in kicking the door down not wanting to wait any longer to take the scene! GreXory helped harmonize the hook which like I've said a few times over the last few weeks its definitely hook szn right now!! Last but not least DZR always coming with the bars and schemes whether he's going solo or doing a feature. One of his stand out lines being 'they call it a blessing but I think I'm cursed by the fact I make a struggle look easy' which is a play on what people may think is a positive is actually a negative, people think he's not effected but he just finds a way to get through troubling times. This and the other tracks are produced by Skep who has found many different sounds on this project. Go help a local rapper out and see what your missing out on.
